This technology, which includes IBMs automatic speech recognition and text-to-speech engines, allows testing of voice-enabled Web applications written in the X+V language. The W3C has established a Multimodal Working Group to create a multimodal standard. IBM has submitted X+V to the W3C for consideration in addressing the requirements for a multimodal standard. X+V allows existing skills in VoiceXML development and Web development to be used to integrate multimodal technology into new or deployed Web applications.
