12. Quote Randomizer - PHP - Using Flat File
|
Here is yet another Random Quote Generator written in PHP. This script allows you to pull the quotes from a flat file (text file). The flat file makes maintenance a lot easier. If you want to add/remove/update quotes, you only have to open the quotes file. You do not have to manipulate the script. I further improved it by putting the HTML output into a function. This allows you to add your HTML to a script other than the one that does the work of picking the quote. Once the quote has been picked by the random generator, it is pushed into the function which then outputs the HTML.

18. RubberwaLL Anti-leech File Protection
|
RubberwaLL provides a free watertight anti-leech solution for your site. All files sit in a password protected directory, which only the script itself has login permissions for. Upon receipt of a file request, the script checks the visitor has actually come from YOUR site, by examining the referer tag supplied by the browser. If they originate from your site, the script then logs on to the protected folder, and loads the requested file into server memory. It then feeds the file to the visitors browser directly, and completely transparently. What does this mean? It is impossible for users to see the real address of your files (as only the php script is able to access them, users must download them VIA the script), and even if they did get hold of it - they would be unable to obtain any files without the username/pass. Therefore, it is near impossible for your files to be hotlinked by any website except yours. All settings are written into an easy to read configuration file, which keeps the script blisteringly fast, and comes with a full readme. For easy administration, every access grant or denial is logged in a special file. **The initial errors in the 1.0 release have now been resolved - please download the fully working improved 1.0a version if you experienced issues with .htaccess**

File Splitter is a great tool for splitting files to fit onto disks or use in emails. Split it with File Splitter and send it in chunks. Has settings for splitting for floppies, small email, good size email and big files. Or you can choose your custom size. After splitting you just click Join Files then choose one main file and it puts it back together for you.
