1. Process check and restart script
|
This perl script I wrote for my server to check if a process is runnning or not. If there was no runnnning process from the software you want to watch the script will restart it. You can use it for all kind of processes/programs that write his pid into a pid-file (most unix/linux software...). Just change the settings from the script.

After creating or customizing documents, jPDFProcess can save the document to a file, a java.io.OutputStream or a javax.servlet.ServletOutputStream when running in a J2EE application server to output the file directly to a browser.

This article describes how to count the number of instances of a process that are currently running on the system. It is written in C++ for Windows, but could be ported to other systems and languages easily. (Linux, Visual Basic/VB, C, Unix, MacOS) The system just needs to support interprocess semaphores. The idea can be extended to count any resource, such as a thread, file, data structure, or network object.

What can Complete Process Manager do for me? Complete Process Manager helps you detect the invisible applications which are running in the background and identify them. Furthermore Complete Process Manager helps you detect the startup programs which start automatically whenever you turn on your computer. Typical examples are adware, spyware, trojan and malware which start automatically and run in the background without your permission. Other examples include useless programs an service programs which have no other effect then eating up your computer resoures like RAM and CPU. Which information about the running processes does Complete Process Manager show? To view extended information click any of the entries on the left pane. The right pane will then show detailed information such as exe path, size, etc. Can I stop any of the running programs? Yes. To do so right-click the program name on the left pane and click "Kill". Alternatively you can select (highlight) the entry on the left pane and click "Kill" under "Main" menu option. Can I add or remove any of the startup programs? Yes. Click "Startup Manager" under "Tools" menu option. "Startup Manager" window will open. To disable an item uncheck that item. To permanently remove the item highlight it and click the minus button. To add a program to start automatically during Windows startup, click the plus button, specify a program in the "Command Line" field, enter a name in the "Name" field and click the "Add" button.

10. Displaying Information about the ASP.NET Process

The author writes "With ASP.NET you can configure the ASP.NET engine to automatically restart itself when certain criteria are met. For example, if the Web server has 100 requests queued up, you may wish to have the Web server restarted, assuming that some script or DLL is hanging the Web server. Additionally, you can set requirements on restarting the Web server on the memory usage, the total number of requests, or by the total time the Web servers run. This proactive approach was implemented by the ASP.NET team in order to increase the overall uptime of a Web site running ASP.NET: if the memory suddenly shoots through the roof, the Web server can be restarted, reigning in the memory usage and starting anew.
